               പതിനാറാമത് രാജ്യാന്തര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയ്ക്ക് നിശാഗന്ധിയില്‍ തിരി തെളിയുമ്പോള്‍ പച്ചയും കത്തിയും കരിയും താടിയും വേദിയില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞാടും. മേളയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തോടനുബ്ധിച്ച് സംവിധായകന്‍ രാജീവ് കുമാര്‍ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ 'നിയതിയുടെ ചതുരംഗം (DESTINY'S DICE)' വേദിയില്‍ അരങ്ങേറും. 25ഓളം കഥകളി കലാകാരന്മാരെ വ്യത്യസ്ത വേഷങ്ങളില്‍ ഒരേ വേദിയിലെത്തിക്കുന്ന ഈ ദൃശ്യവിരുന്ന് സമ്പ്രദായിക ചിട്ടവട്ടങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് ഭിന്നമായി അവതരണത്തിന്റെ ആധുനിക ഭാവങ്ങള്‍ തേടുന്നതാവും.

Eleven Spools to hook the Golden Pheasant

                 Eleven films portraying anxiety, desires, dreams and hopes of the Third world make the COMPETITION SECTION of 16^th IFFK a kaleidoscope of Afro Asia and Latin America. Of which three are debut films,too.

‘A STONE THROW AWAY’ directed by Sebastian Hiriyath, the Spanish director,   presents the surreal atmosphere in the illusive world of prophecies and dreams.

‘AT THE END OF IT ALL’, the Bengali film directed by Aditi Roy  is set in the city of Kolkatta .

Miang Shang’s ‘BLACK BLOOD’ is about a Chinese couple who got infected by HIV during blood transfusion.

The Turkish film ‘BODY’ directed by Mustafa Noori, talks about the ups-and-downs in the life of a porn star.

 Malayali Filmmaker Prasath Nayar’s ‘DELHI IN A DAY’ portrays the life situation of an upper-class family in the contemporary Delhi. It is his first film.

The Iranian film ‘FLAMINGO NO. 13’ is a film by Hameed Rasay which is about love and ‘Flamingo Hunt’.

‘FUTURE LASTS FOREVER’ directed by Oscar Alper is a movie which delineates a music student who urges to know his past and the traditional music of Turkey.  

‘DOTA SA ALIBADI’ portrays the life in the Kenyan slums under the plight of severe poverty and diseases. Two directors, Ka Mau Wang Dung and Nik Reding, directed this film which shows the discrimination faced by the HIV infected.

‘THE CAT VANISHES’ is an Argentanian film. The anxieties and doubts of a woman who serves her mentally-ill husband is the main theme of this film.

‘THE COLOURS OF THE MOUNTAIN’ is a film directed by Carlos Ceaser.  The innocent companionship and dreams of two childhood friends goes through a milieu of emotional feelings, which is portrayed in this movie.

‘THE PAINTING LENS’ directed by Pablo Perelman is a highly inspirational movie which depicts a painter who has made his own benchmark in the world of painting.

REGISTRATION CLOSES TODAY

           Those who missed to register for 16^th IFFK, can avail a last chance, through online at www.iffk.in from 09.00 am to 08.00 pm or directly at the Delegate Cell working at Kalabhavan Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram, on 07^th December 2011. There will not be any other opportunity to register for delegateship of 16^th IFFK. The rates remain same.

INAUGURAL FUNCTION

The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which has attained a unique position in the realm of World Cinema, for its immense public participation, is all set to switch on its 16^th edition, from 09^th December 2011.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala   Oommen Chandy will inaugurate 16^th IFFK at a function scheduled at Nishagandhi Open air Auditorium, Kanakakkunnu, Thiruvananthapuram at 06.00 pm. Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Wildlife, Sports and Cinema, K.B Ganesh Kumar will preside over the function and the renowned Bollywood Actress   Jaya Bachchan will be the Chief Guest.

Festival Catalogue will also be released at the function by Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Planning and Rural Development Shri. K C Joseph.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor MP will release the Festival Daily Bulletin by handing over the same to Shri. V.S.Sivakumar, Hon’ble Minsiter for Transport and Devaswom.

Shri. K. Murleedharan, MLA, Shri V. Sivankutty MLA and Smt. Remini P Nair, President Thiruvanathapuram District Panchayat, will offer felicitations.

The function will be followed by a Cultural Programme Directed by T K Rajeev Kumar, renowned film director. This will be followed by the screening of the inaugural film ‘Under the Hawthorn Tree’, Directed by Shan Zha Shu Zhi Lian.  This will be the debut screening of this 114 minute long Chinese film in India.

പ്രവചനങ്ങളും സ്വപ്നങ്ങളും സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്ന ഭ്രമാത്മക ലോകത്തിലൂടെ സ്വപ്നാടനം നടത്തുന്ന ആട്ടിടയന്റെ കഥപറയുന്ന സ്പാനിഷ് ചിത്രമാണ് സെബാസ്റ്റ്യന്‍ ഹിരിയത്ത് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത 'എ സ്റ്റോണ്‍ ത്രോ എവേ'. കൊല്‍ക്കട്ട നഗരത്തിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ നവാഗതയായ അതിഥി റോയ് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത അറ്റ് ദ എന്‍ഡ് ഓഫ് ഇറ്റ് ആള്‍, തന്റെ പാരമ്പര്യത്തില്‍ അഭിമാനിക്കുകയും ഭൂതകാലത്തില്‍ ആനന്ദം കൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന യുവാവിന്റെ കഥ പറയുന്നു. മകളുടെ പഠനാവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി രക്തം ക്രയവിക്രയം ചെയ്യുകയും തുടര്‍ന്ന് എച്ച് ഐ വി ബാധിതരായി തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ചൈനീസ് ദമ്പതിമാരുടെ ഉള്‍തുടിപ്പുകളുടെ ആവിഷ്കാരമായ 'ദ ബ്ലാക്ക് ബ്ലഡ്'. മിയാന്‍ ഷാംഗ് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. തുര്‍ക്കിയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള മത്സര ചിത്രമായ 'ബോഡി'ഒരു രതിനായികയുടെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ കയറ്റിറക്കങ്ങള്‍ ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നു, മുസ്തഫ നൂറിയാണ് സംവിധായകന്‍ .

              മലയാളിയായ നവാഗത സംവിധായകന്‍ പ്രശാന്ത് നായര്‍ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഹിന്ദി ചിത്രമാണ് 'ഡല്‍ഹി ഇന്‍ എ ഡേ' സമകാലീന ഡല്‍ഹിയുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ ഒരു വരേണ്യവര്‍ഗ്ഗ കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ അന്തരീക്ഷം വിഷയമാക്കുന്നു ഈ ചിത്രം. ഹമീദ് റാസ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഇറാനിയന്‍ ചിത്രമായ ഫെമിംഗോ നമ്പര്‍ 13 പ്രണയത്തിന്റെയും ഫ്‌ളെമിംഗോ വേട്ടയുടെയും കഥയാണ് പറയുന്നത്. പരമ്പരാഗത സംഗീതത്തെ അറിയാനും തന്റെ ഭൂതകാലവുമായി ഒരു കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നടത്തുവാനും തുര്‍ക്കിയുടെ വിരിമാറിലൂടെ ഒരു സംഗീത വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി നടത്തിയ യാത്രയാണ് ഓസ്കാര്‍ ആല്‍പര്‍ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഫ്യൂച്ചര്‍ ലാസ്റ്റ് ഫോര്‍ എവര്‍ എന്ന ചിത്രം.

             ദാരിദ്ര്യവും രോഗങ്ങളും ദുരിതപൂര്‍ണ്ണമാക്കി തീര്‍ത്ത കെനിയന്‍ ചേരികളിലെ മനുഷ്യജീവിതങ്ങളുടെ ചിത്രമാണ് ഡോറ്റോ സാ എലിബിഡി. കാമൗ വാ ഡുംഗ്, നിക്ക് റെഡിംഗ് എന്നിവര്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഈ ചിത്രം എയ്ഡ്‌സ് രോഗികള്‍ നേരിടുന്ന വിവേചനം വെളിച്ചത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. അര്‍ജന്റീനയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള മത്സരചിത്രമായ ദ ക്യാറ്റ് വാനിഷസ് മനോനില തെറ്റിയ ഭര്‍ത്താവിനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീയുടെ ആധിയും സംശയങ്ങളും ആവിഷ്ക്കരിക്കുന്നു. ബാല്യകാല ജീവിതത്തിലെ നിഷ്കളങ്ക സൗഹൃദങ്ങളും സ്വപ്നങ്ങളും രണ്ട്  കളികൂട്ടുകാരുടെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ വൈകാരിക മുഹൂര്‍ത്തങ്ങളുമായി സംവേദിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രമാണ് 'ദ കളേഴ്‌സ് ഓഫ് ദ മൗണ്ടെയ്ന്‍'. കാര്‍ലോസ് സീസറാണ് സംവിധായകന്‍ . ചിലിയന്‍ സംവിധായകനായ പാബ്ലോ പെരല്‍മാന്റെ 'ദ പെയിന്റിംഗ് ലെസന്‍' നിരന്തര പ്രോത്സാഹനത്തിലൂടെ ചായക്കൂട്ടുകളുടെ ലോകത്ത് അജയ്യനായി തീര്‍ന്ന യുവാവിന്റെ കഥ പറയുന്നു.
