INAUGURAL FUNCTION


The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which has attained a unique position in the realm of World Cinema, for its immense public participation, is all set to switch on its 16th edition, from 09th December 2011.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala   Oommen Chandy will inaugurate 16th IFFK at a function scheduled at Nishagandhi Open air Auditorium, Kanakakkunnu, Thiruvananthapuram at 06.00 pm. Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Wildlife, Sports and Cinema, K.B Ganesh Kumar will preside over the function and the renowned Bollywood Actress   Jaya Bachchan will be the Chief Guest.
Festival Catalogue will also be released at the function by Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Planning and Rural Development Shri. K C Joseph.
Dr. Shashi Tharoor MP will release the Festival Daily Bulletin by handing over the same to Shri. V.S.Sivakumar, Hon’ble Minsiter for Transport and Devaswom.
Shri. K. Murleedharan, MLA, Shri V. Sivankutty MLA and Smt. Remini P Nair, President Thiruvanathapuram District Panchayat, will offer felicitations.
The function will be followed by a Cultural Programme Directed by T K Rajeev Kumar, renowned film director. This will be followed by the screening of the inaugural film ‘Under the Hawthorn Tree’, Directed by Shan Zha Shu Zhi Lian.  This will be the debut screening of this 114 minute long Chinese film in India.
